Description

Position Summary:

Eager to join a building, fast-pace biotech environment, the Intl Accounting Manager will play an instrumental role within the International Finance Team dealing with a broad range of accounting and controlling activities across multiple countries and connecting with numerous internal and external stakeholders. Under the supervision of the EU Finance & Accounting Director, this position will ensure that our US GAAPs and Statutory books are properly maintained with the adequate internal controls. Also, this position will be overseeing and coordinating the activities of outsourced services and be involved in several Intl & Global projects improving our finance processes and overall capabilities.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manage and perform accounting activities for Intl entities related to Procure-to-Pay, Payroll, Order-to-Cash, Month-end close & Statutory compliance activities (such as VAT, Tax and other statutory filings)
  • Prepare any journal entries, detailed reports and account reconciliations the general ledger accounts as needed.
  • Oversee Seattle Genetics’ 3rd party accounting service providers and identify improvement opportunities to the existing partnership
  • In collaboration with the Intl Business Planning Team, review the financial terms and accounting treatment for all new EU contracts, work orders and change orders and forecast GAAP expenses to determine monthly accrual entries.
  • Assist with the EU intercompany & transfer pricing structure. Ensure the intercompany invoices are generated and paid in a timely manner and transactions accurately recorded in the multiple ledgers.
  • Contribute to the SOX process (prepare narrative documentation, key control identification / refinement, develop and/or enhance control set to address business/financial reporting risks).
  • Establish a first class partnership with the Global Finance Accounting team
  • Identify and implement process improvements and analysis as new accounting and agreement requirements arise
  • Partner with Global Cross-functional team on specific projects enhancing the Intl Finance Team capabilities

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience with, ideally, 2 years in public accounting;
  • Life science (pharmaceutical, biotech or CRO) experience heavily preferred
  • Understanding of US GAAP and Local GAAPs accrual based accounting
  • Must possess strong finance skills, analytical ability, and solid business acumen
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize work, and handle simultaneous assignments under tight deadlines and in a fast paced environment
  • Possess a superior attention to detail and a commitment to timely but accurate work
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across organizations and utilize resources effectively
  • Ability to execute daily transactional accounting tasks while thinking strategically on building a sustainable and scalable accounting function
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel, experience with Oracle a plus

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
